& Prospectus


Art: A Lifelong Journey
Showcasing the creative expressions of
working artists 75 and over

June 1 – 22, 2014
Reception & Awards: Sunday June 1, 2-4pm

ELIGIBILITY: Working artists 75 and over are invited to exhibit a maximum of 2 pieces of original fine art. Artwork must have been completed within the past five years and may not have been previously exhibited with the Putnam Arts Council.

SPECIFICATIONS: Two-dimensional work must be ready to hang and we prefer it framed with screw eyes and wire attached. PLEASE NOTE SIZE RESTRICTIONS: MAXIMUM WIDTH: 36”Three-dimensional work (indoor only please) and may not exceed 36" x 36" x 72"; weight must be manageable by one person. We have pedestals available. PLEASE IDENTIFY YOUR WORK with a label with your name, the title, medium & price or NFS value.

JUROR OF AWARDS: James B. Sparks is a prolific painter, photographer and instructor whose work has been shown and collected country-wide. He has a BFA in Painting from Washington University and a MFA from the University of Southern California.

CASH AWARDS: Best in Show, Second Place & Third Place. All awards will be selected at the discretion of the Juror and will be announced at a public reception Sunday, June 1, 2-4pm.

FORMS/LABELS: Entry forms will be provided at time of drop-off. Please help us to identify your work by placing a label on the BACK (or bottom if your work is a sculpture) which includes your name along with the title, medium & price of the artwork.

FEES: $25 per artist / $20 for Putnam Arts Council members. Artists may receive the discounted entry fee by joining the Arts Council at time of drop-off. $15 is the annual membership rate for Senior Citizens and provides timely information and discounts on all exhibits, classes and special events.

SALES: The Putnam Arts Council retains a 35% commission on sales.

HAND DELIVERY OF ARTWORK: Wednesday 5/21, Thursday 5/22, Friday 5/23, Saturday 5/24:
Noon -3pm or by appointment. All artwork must be received by Saturday, 5/24.

PICK UP AT CONCLUSION OF SHOW: Sunday 6/22 - 3-4pm; Tuesday 6/24 – Thursday 6/26 noon -3pm or by appointment.

Call to Photographers: Photowork '14

Photowork is a premier national exhibition of new photographic images. The spirit of the show is a juxtaposition of traditional styles and cutting edge images.
ENTRY DEADLINE: Monday, May 18.

NY's 18th Congressional District

The Office of Representative Sean Patrick Maloney is proud to sponsor the 33rd Annual Congressional Art Competition for New York’s Eighteenth Congressional District.

All high school students residing in New York’s 18th Congressional District are welcome to submit an entry.  All submissions are due by Friday, April 25th.
