PUTNAM ARTS COUNCIL GRANTS $28,900 IN 2013
TO ARTISTS AND CULTURAL PRESENTERS
THROUGH THE ARTS LINK PROGRAM
The Putnam Arts Council is pleased to announce that it has re-granted $28,900 to nineteen non-profit organizations to support cultural programs and services that will take place in Putnam County in 2013. New this year, the Program has also funded two Arts in Education matching grants to an individual artist partnering with the Mahopac School District.
The Arts Link community regrant program is managed and monitored by the Putnam Arts Council and provides funding to artists, arts organizations and community non-profits, facilitating quality arts projects and activities throughout Putnam County. The goals of the program include: supporting programs that enrich the quality of life for County residents, expanding opportunities for artists and arts organizations and developing audiences for the arts.
The Arts Link Program is comprised of a combination of funds received through the NYS Council on the Arts with support from Governor Andrew Cuomo and the NYS Legislature and funds received from Putnam County Government.
Each year, a panel comprised of artists, educators, business and community members, reviews the many requests submitted by local arts groups through the Putnam Arts Council. The panel then recommends funding for the projects it feels reach a broad audience, generate the most benefit to the community and support the professional development of artists and arts groups. The recommendations are then submitted to the Board of the Putnam Arts Council for their approval. County funded grant recommendations also need to be approved by the Putnam County Legislature.
